Filter Elements

Carbis Filtration manufacture metal filter elements, screens, strainers, baskets and candles to suit your specific application.

Suitable for use in a wide range of industries including chemical, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, general process, paints and inks, plastic, water, petrochemical, nuclear power and aerospace. They find use where the operation environment requires the robust design provided by a metallic structure and the resistance to aggressive fluids.

Standard materials of construction allow for use from -150°C to + 400°C and up to 25 bar differential pressure. Higher operating temperatures, differential pressures and corrosion resistance may be accommodated by design and by the use of alternative materials such, as Monel, Inconel, Hastelloy and other alloy materials.

We also manufacture plastic elements and strainers in Polypropylene and Nylon. Our existing range of moulds and tools allows us to produce elements of many sizes and shapes, new designs are easily accommodated by our expertise and ability to produce new tooling to suit your design or application.

Standard materials of construction for our metal filters include:

Pleated Mesh Element

Woven Wire Mesh:

A uniform precision woven wire mesh with nominal and absolute micron ratings of 3 to 1000 micron.

Sintered Metal Materials:

Sintered Metal Mesh

Sintered multi-layer metal mesh is composed of laminated layers of woven wire cloth bonded by special calendaring and sintering in a vacuum oven to create an integrated porous filter media with high strength and rigidity. Course meshes support a drainage mesh overlaid by the precision woven filtration mesh that is also protected from mechanical damage by a further layer of mesh. Sintered wire mesh is a surface filtration media, particles are retained on the outer layer, allowing effective washing or back flushing. Manufacturing the filtration layer to exacting tolerances ensures reliable performance with constant particle retention and stable flow rates. The open structure gives considerably lower pressure drops than sintered metal powders. Absolute micron ratings from 3 µm 500 µm. This material has excellent mechanical strength and can be cut, rolled, welded and machined, allowing fabrication of components of varying configurations.

Sintered Spherical Metal and Powder

We produce seamless porous elements up to 1500 mm in length and 320 mm diameter with many different wall thicknesses and pore sizes from 0.5 µm to 200 µm. The sintering process produces elements into stable, mechanically strong components that are self-supporting with a fixed pore structure. The pressing and forming of the powder and spherical material allows seamless compaction of flanges and threads, simplifying installation.

This same compacting process of metal powder or spherical material can be applied to manufacture elements with high collapse strength for use in high pressure applications. The powder or spherical material is sintered onto the surface of our Profile Wedge Wire Screen cylinders offering a unique screen filter capable of filtering down to 2 microns absolute at up to 85 bar.

Wedge Wire Screen

Wedge Wire Screens:

High flow efficiency combined with excellent resistance against collapse and burst pressure, cleanable and robust. Our screens can be manufacture to fit our range of Industrial Filter Housings and existing housings, slot openings of 20 to 5000 micron.
